Learning a foreign language expands horizons and provides an opening to other cultures. A high-quality languages education fosters curiosity and deepens understanding of the world.

"O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another."

The Noble Qur’an [49: 13]

The phrase 'that you may know one another' (لِتَعَارَفُوا) in the verse above, implies the need for communication and understanding, which often includes learning each others languages.

The French curriculum is designed to develop students’ ability to communicate effectively and understand native speakers. It also provides a strong foundation for learning additional languages and supports future study or work opportunities abroad. The course enables students to:

  • Understand and respond to spoken and written language from a range of authentic sources.
  • Speak with growing confidence, fluency, and spontaneity, finding ways to express their ideas clearly
  • Improve the accuracy of their pronunciation and intonation.
  • Write at varying lengths for different purposes and audiences, using a range of grammatical structures.
  • Discover and develop an appreciation for a variety of written texts in French

In 2024, 100% of students achieved at least grades 9-7 in French. You can see our school performance figures for 2024 GCSE exams here.
